After winning the farewell test cricket match of Muttiah Muralitharan, Sri Lanka has began the second test cricket match against India at Colombo (SSC). Skipper Kumar Sangakkara’s aggressive approach and well support by Mahela Jayawardene, sent Sri Lanka to a good position at day two. Sangakkara got his seventh double-century before going to pavilion and Mahela Jayawardene still in the crease with hundred an forty plus runs. Both had made fifteen centuries between themselves at the SSC, before this game.
At the opening day on 26th July, Mahendra Singh Dhoni lost the toss and expectedly was asked to field. Indian seamers had bowled consistently but no assistance from the conditions whatsoever.
