16 Nov 2009, Sri Lanka tour of India started by today’s first test cricket match which played at Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad.
Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first. Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag opened Indian innings but they went to the back foot after loosing four wickets in thirty two runs.

Sri Lankan fast bowler UWMBCA Welegedara took three valuable batsman Gambhir, Sehwag and Tendulkar in his first spell.
In this tour, Sri Lanka will play three tests, two T20I and five one day cricket match against the host.
